"Declaration of Sentiments and Revolutions" (1848)

"We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men and women are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable right; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these rights governments are instituted, deriving their powers from the consent of the governed."

This means that men and women are equal. They have certain rights that they were born with and no one can take them away. Among those rights are being able to live, being free, and being able to be happy. Ti make sure this happens, the citizens, have established a government which does what, or has the power, to do the things they do because the people that elected them, let them.
